With his new book, Bentley Meeker will illuminate the power of lighting in setting a mood.

(NAPSI)—Light can be a magical medium.

Ask Bentley Meeker, who provided the lighting for celebrity weddings for Chelsea Clinton, Robert De Niro, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Billy Joel, Liza Minnelli, Melissa Rivers and Eddie Murphy, as well as thousands of events for corporations, fashion designer runways, television and movie premieres, concerts and philanthropic events.

“Light for me has always been and is, first, a spiritual force,” said Meeker, one of the nation’s most prominent lighting designers and author of a new book, “Light X Design: 20 Years of Lighting,” published by Glitterati, Incorporated. “The book is my attempt to demonstrate the power of light. Once a light gets turned on, it is a different thing entirely.”

For the last 20 years, Meeker has served Hollywood’s elite, Hamptons’ premier socialites and New York City’s movers and shakers.

“Creating with Bentley is a brainstorming, synergistic experience,” said Preston Bailey, bestselling author and premier event designer, whose work has appeared in Vanity Fair, Vogue, on “Oprah” and on the “Today” show. “We build on each other’s creative ideas and, usually, we end up with a plan that is unique and distinctive.”

“Light is a game changer,” said Bentley. “It can transform a room, our mood and an entire environment. I want to implore others to start seeing light in a different way; as not merely a functional medium, but as a force, an energy that can change our world. It plays such an important role in our lives and we don’t even realize it.”

The settings Meeker creates range from a dreamy wintry wonderland of white and blue for a wedding; a concert stage ablaze in vivid purples and reds; a sunset effect with oversized lanterns glowing amber in a tent; or an enchanted forest created by projecting a pattern of leaves and branches with a slowly rotating spotlight.

“Bentley’s work not only makes people feel good, but look good, too,” added Bailey. “Not to be underrated is his ability to create a stunning environment that actually showcases the people in their best light. This is no mean feat when attendees can number in the hundreds at some of these parties.”

His book illuminates the reader with beautiful photography that mirrors the artistry exhibited in his staging work. The stunning visuals reflect beautiful environments filled with light and mood-setting imagery.
