The Chapter anticipates that more than 8,000 people will participate in Walk MS region-wide.

"Prior to being diagnosed MS in 2005, I never really heard a whole lot about the disease," says Rocklin / Roseville Walk Ambassador Kristie Lee. "I participate in Walk MS because it is one way that I can fight back. Knowing that every day we are one step closer to a cure helps keep me motivated to get up and get going."

"We walk together to make a powerful statement —to keep us moving toward a world free of MS," said Nicole LiaBraaten, Walk MS director for the Northern California Chapter. "With 11 walk sites in Northern California and over 600 sites across the country, when you register for Walk MS you are not just joining a walk, you are ensuring that the over 20,000 people living with MS in Northern California have the programs and services they need to keep moving forward and you're helping to bring an end to multiple sclerosis."

About Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, interrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symp toms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symp toms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50, with at least two to three times more women than men being diagnosed with the disease. MS affects more than 400,000 people in the U.S. and over 2.1 million worldwide.

About the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
MS s tops people from moving. The National MS Society exists to make sure it doesn't. We help each person address the challenges of living with MS. In 2007 alone, through our home office and 50 state network of chapters, we devoted over $136 million to programs that enhanced more than one million lives. To move us closer to a world free of MS, the Society also invested over $50 million to support 440 research projects around the world. We are people who want to do something about MS NOW.
