Sacramento International Airport Continues Ascent SACRAMENTO, CA - Airports Council International, North America has ranked Sacramento International Airport as the 40th busiest airport in North America in 2007. The ranking is an improvement over Sacramento International Airport's 2006 ranking as 42nd busiest airport in North America. By surpassing Minetta San Jose International Airport's passenger numbers by over 90,000 passengers and charting a 3.7% increase in passengers from the previous year, Sacramento International Airport has demonstrated its ability to become an airport of choice for Northern California. "In the turbulent commercial aviation market, we realize that passengers have a choice, especially when their location or destination is equidistant between Sacramento International Airport and the congested Bay Area airports," said Hardy Acree, Sacramento County Airport System Director of Airports. "We pride ourselves in delivering customer service second to none, preserving an easy-in, easy out feel and remaining an airport with affordable parking away from the chaos of urban gridlock." With a new terminal slated for opening around the end of 2011 and customer-friendly features such as 30 minutes of free parking in hourly lots, free WiFi to help business travelers stay connected and new, healthy eating options, Sacramento International Airport is prepared for the future of travel as well as providing an affordable, hassle-free experience in the present. Sacramento County Airport System is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining four of the county's airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.
